IKAR CEO says Russia may have 2nd largest wheat crop in 2024

MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- The state of winter crops is very good and it may become a condition for a second largest wheat harvest in Russia's history in 2024, Dmitry Rylko, CEO of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), said on Wednesday.

"As a result (of the winter crops condition), we are entering the next season with a very preliminary forecast of 145 million tonnes of grain.... For wheat, it stands at 92 million tonnes, which is also a very high harvest. If it materializes, it will be Russia’s second largest in history," Rylko said.

He added that the east of the Stavropol Region is the only spot with problems, but it has recently rained there laying ground for a good harvest in 2024.
